Michael Kelly, MD, PhD
Dr. Michael Kelly serves as Executive Director of the Lymphatic Malformations Alliance and Chief Medical Officer of the Lymphatic Malformation Institute. A board-certified pediatric hematologist-oncologist at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, he has dedicated his career to advancing research, improving patient care, and building collaborative networks that accelerate progress for individuals affected by rare and complex diseases.
Dr. Kelly earned both his MD and PhD from the University of Cincinnati through its Medical Scientist Training Program and has held faculty and leadership positions at Washington University School of Medicine, Saint Louis University, the Medical College of Wisconsin, Akron Children's Hospital, Northeast Ohio Medical University, and the Cleveland Clinic. Throughout his career, he has led clinical trials programs, research institutes, and multidisciplinary initiatives focused on translating scientific discoveries into meaningful improvements for patients and families.
Since joining the Alliance in 2020 as Chief Medical Officer and becoming Executive Director in 2021, Dr. Kelly has helped expand research capacity, strengthen international collaboration, and advance efforts to improve understanding, treatment, and outcomes for people living with lymphatic malformations and complex lymphatic anomalies. He is committed to bringing together patients, families, clinicians, and researchers to create a clearer path forward for the entire community.
